The Last Song is the latest of novels by Nicholas Sparks to be adapted to the silver screen. It tells the story of rebellious Ronnie Miller, who is sent to stay with her estranged father for the summer along with her younger brother Jonah. During her stay she runs into Will Blakelee, who despite the someone rocky beginning, finds his way into Ronnie's heart. Now while the romance in this movie is of great focus the real relationship is with Ronnie and her father and ultimately Ronnie and herself. Can Ronnie forgo her feelings of abandonment enough to reconnect with her father with whom she shared a great passion of music? You will have to see the movie.
The overall lesson I got from the movie was that no matter what hardships you may face, it is important to remember what you love. Because what you love is who you are and without it you are lost.
Overall this movie may not have had any Oscar worthy performances but it focused on a beautiful story and a lesson we all can relate to. If you have interest in seeing this film, you most likely will not be disappointed. However I do not recommend it for those who had no interest to begin with, I'm sure there is something you would enjoy more. Head's up: Bring tissues!!!! This is a tear-jerker!
